An Amazing Mexican Holiday

As a family, we love travelling to warm climates over the Christmas Holiday season, as a way of escaping the dreary, wet and cold weather in Vancouver.

For the past three years, we have spent time in a small fishing village, just south of Puerto Vallarta and only accessible by water taxi. Stepping off the water taxi is like stepping back in time. As some describe, being in Yelapa is feels like being in the 1940's or like being in some type of time warp.

With no roads, the main forms of transportation are by foot or by donkey/horse. The village has just had electricity for 5 years, and very little development.

I find that this break is so refreshing. Our schedules are totally different. There are few phones in the village, and our casa has no TV or computer access. We spend time in conversation, reading and at the beach.
This year, I stayed on and hosted the

My friend Beth, was our amazing yoga instructor!
We stayed at Casa Milagros, with hosts Hugo and Antonia.

The hospitality and food was amazing!

I relaxed, read, meditated and did lots of yoga and returned home a teeny bit more fluent in Spanish and profoundly affected by this beautiful village and it's people.

It always takes me quite awhile to ease back into the busy culture back home. Alot of things don't make sense to me for a few weeks. Like the vast selection in breakfast cereals or traffic jams or how to use the huge array of techno devices.
I remember daily that life is about simplicity, spirituality and relationships with wonderful people!
